A Note To Students and Parents
The purpose of the Course Selection Guidance Handbook is to assist students and parents in planning a high school course of study specific to individual student needs, interests, and aspirations. The guide explains state and local requirements for graduation, the grading system, classification of students, and rules and regulations of programs. Brief descriptions of courses offered at Pine Tree High School are included in this guide that should be consulted in selecting courses for next year. Post-graduation opportunities are presented to help the student begin planning for future success. The counseling staff at Pine Tree High School is happy to have the opportunity to help plan student class schedules for high school. The Course Selection Guidance Handbook is designed to help students choose classes wisely, and we hope you will reference it until graduation. Course selections should be carefully considered each year giving attention to the specific requirements of each graduation program, plan for college, and vocational or personal goals. Counselors will work with students regarding their class choices and will make every effort to prepare a satisfactory and appropriate schedule for each student. We encourage students and parents to be proactive in pursuing high school graduation by accessing this handbook, board policy, and state and local requirements. It is important to attend scheduled meetings and conferences concerning the graduation process because the ultimate responsibility for taking the appropriate classes that apply toward graduation belongs to the student and parent. We look forward to helping you have a wonderful high school experience.
Sincerely, Pine Tree High School Counseling Staff
